Benefits and age restriction

Minimum Age & Housing Benefit

Unfortunately due to the way housing benefits or rather universal credits are paid the vast majority of our landlords prefer to have tenants who are in full time employment. This is simply because the benefits cannot be paid to agents directly as before, are paid four weeks in arrears and can be taken back after tenants have left.

Most landlords do look for a minimum age of 21 years although we do have some BAE higher apprenticeships where exceptions have been made so if you are not sure feel free to ask. Tenants under the age of 25 may be asked to provide a guarantor.
